Desert Scenes

God’s Garden of Nature doesn’t just exist in lush green forests.  There is beauty and balance found in all forms even in the desert.  From the low desert surrounding the Salton Sea in California to higher deserts near Congress Arizona.  You will see stark hillsides where vegetation struggles to survive to lush greenery in the higher deserts.

Plants in the desert often have to struggle to survive but even with expose roots this ocotillo lives to become part of the beauty of the setting sun.

Many see only stark barren hills here, but looking closely you will find colours, textures, rocks, interesting formations, plants and most of all small canyons calling out for one to explore.  Feelings of excitement always arise for what one will find around the corner or when climbing up and out to the top knowing some beautiful view awaits to be seen.

Here lies the balance, a desert flower in bloom.  God gives beauty and colour even in what seems to be a barren area when viewed at a distance.

Still higher yet above the Salton Sea in the Anza Borrego State park the landscape comes alive with blooms of colour when just the right amount of rain falls at just the right time.

Many cactus may not have blooms on them, but their beauty lies in there unique shape which is always more beautiful silhouetted against the fading light of a sunset.

In the desert where little water exist the ocotillo’s survive where little else can.   In some areas near springs or creeks  lush wild groves of palm trees can be found.  The contrast and beauty in both help bring a balance to the desert.

Here near Congress Arizona you will find a more traditional looking desert as more rain falls here.  In the spring rains can turn everything green as a mountain forest.

The terrain of this desert with its rocks, cactus and views is God’s natural desert landscaping at its best.

Below the prickly untouchable cactus lies the soft petals of spring flowers.

Here in one place, a beautiful scene is set.  God painted the desert with rock formations, shrubs, cactus and flowers all set below a vibrant blue sky with those big puffy white clouds.

Our journey ends as the moon rises over Joshua trees in the higher desert.

Everywhere God has given a beauty and balance even to the desert when one opens their eyes and hearts to his creations.

So to everyone

Good Morning...  Good Afternoon...   Good Night...

Whatever it is to you.

SO glad you posted this one, too! I meant to tell you on the other with the drift wood, that I love that because it's like it is pointing it's slender woody finger towards infinity.
These photos are just wonderful. It is always such a surprise to see such burst of color and flowers right in the desert. I tell ya, God really has an eye.

There were many a day, like you, I would walk the desert, watching the lizards, the rocks and the cacti. Walking an arroyo, climbing the hillside or just pausing to capture the moment.

Thanks for the journey.

Carrie - My husband and I are BIG fans of the desert. You're so right - there's really SO much life in this seemingly barren landscape. God paints beautiful pictures - and we love enjoying His creation in the quietness of desert wilderness. We love Arizona, and also love visiting Joshua Tree National Park here in California.

God is such a Master...

Carrie, I don't know how you do it but your photos are amazing! As I've read & truly believe "its not the camera that makes great photos, its the photographer" Anywho, so glad you are enjoying your winter in the desert!
