Flowers and Life

Flowers are a huge part of my summer as I am surrounded by them both domestic and wild.  I share with you some of my photos of flowers and poems from myself as well as thoughts and poems from other authors.  Hope your summer is also filled with the colors that flowers can bring.

From out of the black she comes

A flower as bright as a star

Her colours bold and brilliant

She radiates her love afar

What a desolate place would be a world without a flower!
It would be a face without a smile, a feast without a welcome.
Are not flowers the stars of the earth, and are not our stars
the flowers of the heaven.

Since Iris is the Greek goddess for the Messenger of Love, her sacred
flower is considered the symbol of communication and messages.
Greek men would often plant an iris on the graves of their beloved
women as a tribute to the goddess Iris, whose duty it was to
take the souls of women to the Elysian fields.

Who would have thought it possible that a tiny little flower
could preoccupy a person so completely that there simply
wasn't room for any other thought....

In my garden there is a large place for sentiment.

My garden of flowers is also my garden of thoughts and dreams.

The thoughts grow as freely as the flowers, and the dreams are as beautiful.

I do not know how you manage to get the flowers to pose for you but how amazing they behave and smile. Always love the quote 'the Earth laughs in flowers'. Each post seems to suggest a calendar. Thank you for taking time to share your gifts in posts. Big Smiles

"You are now leaving Windows Live Spaces to visit Blogspot. Be afraid. Be VERY afraid!"

Yeah, well, I ignored that and came over here anyway :)

WLS has a problem. The "Team" responsible for developing and running it are not "average users". They aren't US. They are a bunch of technogeeks who changed it to suit their purposes without even pausing to consider how it might affect the vast majority of people who actually USE the service.
Hence the Exodus of folks like us.
I mean, when even TECHNOGRAN isn't blogging on Spaces anymore---that tells you something.
So glad you've found a new home here, Carrie.
I think I have found one too...over at Wordpress.
Facebook seems to be okay for keeping up with friends...what they're doing and so forth...and I like MySpace too...for SOME things. Well, mostly I keep my space there because I have this one friend (Linda Godfrey, author of BEAST OF BRAY ROAD and HUNTING THE AMERICAN WEREWOLF etc etc) who won't use anything BUT MySpace.
Stubborn, she is :)
I spent YEARS trying to get her to switch to WLS. Telling her how great WLS was and so on and so forth.
Guess who got the last laugh...

I so enjoyed looking at your beautiful flowers through your lens, Carrie. You are so right, It is not the camera we use as much as it is the one using it.:) You do a fabulous job with your camera and it is such a pleasure to be here reading your poems, thoughts and wonderful quotes from different authors.
Dianne :)

Hi Carrie, Yes, I kind of rambled in my latest entry. But then it had been awhile and my silliness kind of took over. I still have hope for spaces. Not to mention I can spice up an entry at WLS compared to my generic entries at Blogger. I can remember lighting my stove, summers at the base of Mt. Hood, to warm up. Have a wonderful weekend, Greg PS-You were right I tried to leave a comment at WLS.

Thank you for your comment Carrie, I will get some advice today, it's not a big deal change to another name, I only print what I need for my menu and labels, but I want to find out have she got the right, both the name are difference. Hello Carrie, just come by to visit. Did try but cannot leave comments at old WLS site. How odd. However, this new blog seems to be working well to showcase your words and images. Big wind storm in YVR yesterday - boats beached, power outages north shore and trees down. Did it get to your area? Also see fire season starts again and hope it is a more merciful summer with less fires. Hope garden going well? Tomatoes out back got too wet this June and are not happening. But most neighbourhood plants look edible. Hope UR well as can be. Oh, local blueberries out :) so leaving a blueberry upside down cake. Big Smiles
